Agents Are Calling While I'm Listed For Sale

Q.  My home is listed for sale but I keep getting calls from other agents. What can I do?

A.  There's an industry term called "crossing the sign" which means once you are under an exclusive representation agreement, you should not be approached by other agents looking to solicit your business unless you give that permission.  In your case it appears the agents are in violation and this is not acceptable.  In fact, our Realtor Code of Ethics expressly prohibits this. But you can take measures to reduce the calls. First, let your Realtor know this is happening. Also, make sure your listing detail does not include your direct phone number or contact info.  If you had attempted to sell by owner in the past, your contact info may still be out on the web. If this doesn't stop the calls, we have procedures in place to report the agents who are not following the Code of Ethics and action should be taken.  Good luck.
