Confused About Amendment 2?

Q. I own a rental home in Sawgrass.  How will Amendment 2 affect me?

A. If Amendment 2 is not passed, the property taxes on your Sawgrass rental will go up. In 2008, voters passed a constitutional amendment that limited how much property taxes could increase each year for investment or rental properties, second homes and other non-homestead properties. In 2019, that cap is set to expire which means these properties will be assessed at full market value and the taxes will be sure to skyrocket. If Amendment 2 passes it will make the cap permanent.  If not approved you will lose this important protection.  Both the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors and Florida Association of Realtors support Amendment 2 and encourages a yes vote.
